SPRING ONION |
Spring onions are tender onions which have not fully ripened and are manually gathered. From the onion plant, the bulb is used, made up of numerous thick layers which function as reserves of nutritious substances. Its pointed leaves are hollow, as distinctive as those of the leek or garlic, both plants of the same family. The onion, due to its fibre, mineral and vitamin content, is an excellent regulator for the body. Furthermore, its wealth of antioxidants allows it to relieve breathing problems such as catarrh and bronchitis. It has a less spicy flavour than preserved onions. Spring onions are a fresh product which must always be kept refrigerated. |
