CARROT

The carrot is a species originating from the Mediterranean and central Asia. It has been grown and consumed since the Greek and Roman civilisations. In the first years of cultivation, the roots were violet coloured, and their change to their current orange colour is due to the selections carried out in the middle of the year 1700 in the Netherlands, providing a great amount of carotene, the pigment which gives them their colour and the precursor of Vitamin A.

The high beta-carotene content allows the carrot to maintain significant nutritional qualities. Furthermore, it is low in calories, contains a lot of water, prevents cardiovascular diseases and is essential for the health of our vision and our skin.

There are several types of carrot: Nantes, for the fresh market, Flakkee, for industry, and bunches of carrots which are collected before ripening, without separating the root from the leaves.

The sweet flavour of our carrots, along with the intense colour and a fruity aroma, make them an ideal product for either consuming fresh or cooking and enjoying in any dish.
